Basket Weaving

Basket weaving is a small Stygian Abyss-era decorative craft: you weave woven baskets — purely decorative containers — from dry reeds. It’s a gardening-adjacent hobby rather than a combat or economy skill.

Getting started

1. Learn the craft from a Basket Weaving book — double-click it to learn (it teaches permanently; pm.BasketWeaving = true). The game notes you’ll “need gardeners to make reeds out of plants.”
2. Get dry reeds. Reeds come from the gardening / plant system — plants are turned into dry reeds (DryReeds), the raw material for weaving.
3. Weave baskets from the reeds using the basket-weaving menu, producing a range of decorative basket styles.

Coloring

Baskets can be dyed using the plant-based dyes the same system provides — plant pigments and natural dye (fixed with color fixative) — so you can make baskets in the full range of plant hues to match a décor theme.

Why do it

It’s a decorator’s and gardener’s pastime — the baskets are sought-after house décor, and the craft gives a use for the reeds your garden produces. Niche, but a satisfying loop for players invested in gardening and decorating.
